An activity of involving mothers across the country in the building of Healthy China was held on June 24, under the guidance of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the National Health Commission (NHC) and the General Administration of Sport of China (GASC).
The ACWF launched an initiative in July 2019 to implement the Healthy China Action and called for women's federations to popularize healthy life, optimize health services and create healthy environment.
Responding to the call, the women's federations at all levels around the country carried out various activities to publicize health knowledge and help enhance women's physical fitness in the past year.
To promote Healthy China Action, the ACWF, the NHC and the GASC issued a document this May to mobilize mothers to play their unique role in learning health knowledge, living a healthy life, paying attention to mental health, doing exercise and keeping fit, improving living environment and taking part in health projects.
During the activity, Zhang Dongmei, Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, noted that the women's federations at all levels should be fully aware of the importance of women's health, especially
under regular epidemic prevention and control, and carry out health education and science popularization activities according to local conditions.
Noting that it's usually the mothers who instruct and supervise their family members to keep good health and protect themselves from COVID-19, Zhang urged people from all walks of life to continue to pay attention to women's health, publicize health concept and knowledge, and promote health culture. She called on more enterprises to participate in the action and promote women's health.
Liu Min, Professor of the School of Public Health under Peking University, delivered a keynote speech on family epidemic prevention and control at the event. Yang Yuexin, President of the council of the Chinese Nutrition Society, shared tips on a balanced home diet.
The event was live streamed on several well-known video platforms in China, attracting nearly 19 million views.
